The Lamar A. Francis Center

For Education and Outreach

Lamar Avery Francis, the namesake of our Center for Education and Outreach, played for our Ballers basketball team in 2008. While on the team Lamar served as team captain and quickly earned the respect of the staff and his players, as someone with determination and drive. It was unanimously decided to name the center after this extraordinary young man. The first location was dedicated on June 12, 2010 at 231 Westlake Road, in Fayetteville North Carolina. Plans are currently in the works to build a new 30,000 sqft. building to serve as the permanent home for the Francis CEO.

The Francis Center for Education and Outreach facilitates the organization's tutoring, educational, and mentoring programs. The staff of the FCEO places emphasis on building human capacity.

Future programs, such as the Youth Leadership and Life Skills Development Initiative (YLLSDI), are designed to provide empowerment tools to the underserved youth that will enhance their quality of life. The Adkins Life Skills program is the curriculum of choice and will be offered at no cost to the youth enrolled in the program.

The FCEO was established to confront the opportunity presented in our community. Roughly 30% of students do not graduate within four years. The rate is slightly higher for some ethnic groups. Available resources will be utilized to develop a multidimensional and comprehensive plan to address this matter.

By placing focus on student development and excellence in the classroom, the FCEO is poised to be the nucleus of an unprecedented educational experience.
